1 up!

I finally got pictures of this up. I made this a while ago and everyone loves it. My roomates who are big Nintendo fans really LOVE it. It is something really simple (just a lot of work because of all the granny squares).

This kind of thing is something a lot of people may not think of to create, but if you know any guys that are old school nintendo fans, this would be a great gift.

The good thing about old school nintendo is that all the images are already made up of pixels. So all you need to do is use a granny sqaure for each pixel and VOILA.

I love it when a plan comes together!

I was working on some goodies to send with the tote I am making for the tote swap at Crochetville. I had a vision of something I wanted to create and I actually created it! It looks just as good as I pictured and it wasn’t too hard to do. This is my first personal crochet invention and I am very happy with it. I am pretty sure I will be making some more. Of course I can’t display it at the moment because I can’t have my swap partner know what she is getting! :-) But when I finished everything and she gets it in the mail I plan on posting pictures of everything I made.

Of course another project I was making didn’t turn out so well and I think I am going to have to get forget about it. Maybe if I get ambitious I will try again, but at the moment I am beyond frustrated with it and hungry… and I don’t work well when I am hungry.

Alright, off to have a snack!

In Your Satin Tights, Fighting For Your Rights…

… WONDER WOMAN!

Blue Wonder Woman

I had this photo that I liked and I was orginially going to do a different kind of wall motif with it. However, I never got around to making it. So, one day I decided to try it in crochet and came up with a pretty cool wall hanging. I actually had the crochet part done quite a while ago but it took me forever to get motivated to mount it on the rods to get it hung up on the wall. I really like the way it worked out in the end though. Enjoy!

The only way is ebay!

I love shopping! And I LOVE EBAY!

I have bought so much stuff from there over the past week it is amazing. And now the fun part comes in…. GETTING ALL THE MAIL! I got some really great deals on some pretty cool stuff. I got some awesome pattern books, some crochet supplies, some other supplies I will be using to write an article, and some little treats for my partner in the Fall tote swap! And almost each and every one of these things were amazing deals.

I paid a pretty penny for one of the pattern books but I think it will be worth it. Plus, having the satisfaction of even winning the auction feels soooo good.

Kid tested… Mother Approved.

I went down to Boca Raton yesterday and got back this afternoon. It’s a little over a 3 hour drive from Orlando, but it’s a good drive so it doesn’t really seem that long at all. I stayed at the very beautiful Boca Raton Resort & Club. It is quite a fancy place and it was fun to stay there.

I am pretty sure my friend really liked his blanket. I think it took him a few looks at it for the quality and work to sink in. But he told me his mother was impressed and apparently that is a very very good thing. So, all is well and now I can move on to other projects. I have a few smaller things I want to do. I need to finish making a blanket I started a while ago, and of course I need to make a tote for the Fall Purse Swap at Crochetville. Plus, I need to make some other fall themed goodies for the swap. :-) It is gonna be good!

Crochet Portrait – Part III of III – It’s Done!!!

I worked and worked and worked and worked some more… and finally… after hours and hours and hours…. It’s all done! The whole afghan is complete and ready to make its journey to its new owner. I thought I had until Friday, so I had my time all planned out for Friday. Then I found out I needed to have it done by Thursday because that was the only day my friend had off work! So I had to rush and work extra hard toward the end but it all came out…and I LOVE IT! I am so happy and I can only hope my friend is as happy as I am.

I am going to drive to Boca Raton today and hand deliver it. I am also spending the night down their in a very very beautiful hotel. I am pretty excited about the little roadtrip! I will update about the whole thing when I get back on Friday afternoon or evening.

I hope everyone enjoys this as much as I do. My friend said he liked blue, he wanted something funky, and special. I think I got it all covered.

Now I need to pack real quick and hit the road!

A little birdie told me…

I was extremely lucky and very fortunate to be able to test a pattern that “Nutsaboutcrochet13” created over at the Crochetville forums. It was very fast, very easy to whip up, and obviously very cute. Of course I took a break from working on the Portrait Afghan to do this, which I didn’t think would be an issue….but I was wrong. eek. (More on that at a later time and date)

Crochet Portrait – Part II of III

Alright! The second portrait is done! I am also happy with this one and now all I have to do is finish the other parts and put the whole blanket together. I really think I should be able to get it all done by Thursday night. Thanks for checkin’ it out.

So here we are…. This:

Turned out into this….

Had to make a trip to JoAnn’s

Of course I was going to run out of yarn when I was getting toward the end of my project! It doe help that Red HeartSuper Saver yarn for solid colors comes in 7oz skeins while the grey heather I am using for the background only comes in 5oz skeins.

But JoAnn’s was having very good sales on their summer stuff and I got a couple of mini wind chimes and a frog prince garden statue which was 80% off. Not too shabby. I also found some other yarn that was on sale for $1. I love dollar yarn! Plus I also bought a giant crochet hook because I just feel like I need to have one. And I bought a set of Susan Bates Crystalite Crochet Hooks. I have always thought they were very pretty so I got a whole set of them.

So I went there to get 1 skein of yarn and ended up buying a whole lot more. That seems to always happen. I can’t complain though I love all the stuff I got. And I remembered I am going to have to go back to either JoAnn’s or Michael’s because I will need more of the blue color I am using to complete the afghan.
